Events at Staple Hill Creative Week 2009
Staple Hill’s Got Talent!
Recently, we held a curriculum week focussing on the Arts. Each year group had an area of art to base their work around. We were lucky enough to have an army of volunteers from UWE who got stuck in with all the different activities that were going on.
The foundation Stage created some eye-catching pictures using different printing techniques.
Key Stage One drew inspiration from the well-known author and illustrator Eric Carle to produce beautiful collages using tissue paper and paint.
Year 3’s focus was textile art and they experimented with a range of techniques including batik, fabric collage and fabric painting. They also created wearable – art by tie dying t-shirts to make patterns!
Year 4 experimented with different drawing media using charcoal, pencils, wax crayons and pens to produce fantastic pictures. Sunflower class also brightened up the school playground with large chalk pictures using a clever way of enlarging their initial plan.
Year 5 got their hands dirty and used clay to sculpt some figures
Year 6 produced some beautiful paintings
Our week finished on a high when many parents attended an Open afternoon to view and help celebrate the hard work of their children during the week.
