We provide free fruit daily to the Infants as part of the national government scheme. We are very fortunate that Stokes, our local greengrocer provides us with free fruit for our Junior children twice a week. The only other snack that may be brought into school is an alternative piece of fruit. Toast is available for Junior children on a Monday and Tuesday breaktime. We ask that no child brings in more than 10p per day as only one slice of toast per child is permitted.
Provision of free school milk to children in this authority stops at the age of five. Your child will receive free milk until their fifth birthday. However, the school belongs to a scheme which allows you to purchase milk for your child from a local dairy at extremely reasonable cost for children over five. Details of this scheme are available from the school office or can be obtained by phoning School Milk Services on 01934 510950.
For those children who do not have milk, water is always available. In the Infants beakers are provided in the classes for the children to have a drink of water if they wish, and in the Juniors two water coolers provides opportunities for the children to re-fill their water bottles during the day, at breaktime and lunchtime. They are provided with the first bottle free of charge. Replacement bottles may be bought from the office at a cost of 30p per bottle.
