Staple Hill Primary School dedicated their Autumn Term fundraising to raising money for Starlight. The whole school took part in a series of fundraisers in order to raise the final amount of £544.25.
So what did we do?
We set up a stall at our School Autumn Fair where children and parents donated £1 to write a star wish.
Children in every class donated money to write and decorate a special star wish.
We displayed all our star wishes on a Wishing Wall in our school hall.
Different groups of children decided to club together to raise money by:
getting their parents to bake cakes for them to sell [in school] to their friends and teachers
completing a sponsored silence
asking friends and family for donations
The school held a special Sparkly Day where all the children, teachers and helpers dressed in ‘All things sparkly!’ including the school cooks. Every child who donated to Starlight was automatically entered into a raffle to win ‘Eeyore’. Jessica in Year 3 won this special prize. The ‘Sparkliest’ junior and infant class won a special box of biscuits to share. Tulip Class [infants] and Orchid Class [juniors] won this special prize.
We held a special assembly to share Starlight’s brilliant work.
We used Starlight’s collecting tins to collect donations from our parents and family at our school Christmas concerts.
We invited the local paper and a Starlight representative [Julian Curtis] to receive a cheque for the money we raised. We could not get a reporter to attend but we will send a press release to them instead.
